Gentleman’s Club Closed By Authorities

Administrative officers mobilised forces of soldiers-police team to search an illegal luxurious nightclub in Pattaya city after local people complained that this nightclub smuggled girls in to sell sexual services.

PATTAYA – February 2, 2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 7.00 p.m., Mr. Praphan Prathoomchoomphu (Head of Security Affairs of Amphur Banglamung) mobilized forces of over 50 administrative officers of Amphur Banglamung, army officers of the 14th Military Circle and police officers to attack to search in Gentleman’s Lounge Nightclub located at no. 400/37, Moo 12, Phra Tamnak road, Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province, after they received complaints by the local people that the nightclub threw a party with illicit drug use and prostitution services.

When they arrived at scene officers found that more than a 100 party-goers including foreign men and young Thai women were dancing and drinking inside the house and at an area nearby the swimming pool. Officers ordered them to turn off the music and turn on the lights and they then separated all tourists from Thai employees in order to inspect their identification cards and drug substance in their urine. Initially, three of the women were found to be under 20 years oldhowever nobody tested positive for illicit drug use.

Upon searching on the 2nd floor officers found a lot of condoms and towels that were prepared to serve customers. One of five well-decorated rooms contained used condoms and towels left inside but nobody was found in the room. Officers also found a lot of books detailing accounts of the nightclub, time record for the use of those five rooms, various commercial bills including a list of over 40 female staffs, all of them were seized for examination.

From investigating Mrs. Panadda Pansaeng, aged 36, told the authorities that she was the manager of the nightclub which she claimed opened for service at 5.00 p.m. until midnight and regularly held parties to entertain clients. She said that young female staffs would sit with customers to serve them and none of the women provided sexual services, while the rooms on the upstairs were for staff use only.

Mr. Praphan Prathoomchoompu (Head of Security Affairs of Amphur Banglamung) said that authorities would initially charge the nightclub with operating without permission, selling alcoholic beverage with operating hours exceeded past the limit that the law specified, and were negligent by allowing people aged under 20 to assemble in the nightclub. He has ordered the closure of the nightclub for 30 days pending further investigation. He admitted that all evidence was insufficient to take action against this nightclub for an allegation of smuggling to provide prostitution service which he will conduct a further inspection once again.
