Garbage Truck Collides With Motorcycle Killing The Rider Instantly

A garbage truck in Pattaya which was being driven at high speed collided with a motorbike killing the rider instantly. The truck driver fled the scene on foot.

PATTAYA – April 12, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 6.50 a.m.; Pol.Lt. Saksit Khaikaew (Investigation police of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) together with the rescuers of Sawang Boriboon Tharmma Satharn Foundation, Pattay city, rushed to inspect an accident where a garbage truck had collided with a motorbike killing the rider instantly at the beginning of Soi South Pattaya 4, South Pattaya road, Moo 10 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

Upon inspecting at scene the officers found the corpse of an unknown Thai male aged approximately 25-35 who had died from a massive head trauma. Also about 150 metres away was a garbage truck of Pattaya city, brand Fuso, license number 79-7468, Bangkok with number “30” attached on the side. The police inspected the truck and found evidence of a collision to the left hand side of the truck but didn’t find any documents that could identify the driver.

From questioning an eyewitnesses they told the police that they saw the motorbike riding in front of the garbage truck and it looked like the motorbike was going to turn off the road but was suddenly struck from behind and was run over by the truck killing the rider instantly. The witnesses went on to say that the truck carried on driving before parking up around 150 metres away from the collision where the driver and 2 dustmen fled on foot.

Initially, the police assumed that the garbage truck driver might be an alien worker and was afraid of being punished because he had killed a motorcyclist. The police seized the garbage truck and took photographs of the accident and eyewitnesses statements for evidence before sending the corpse for autopsy. The police will coordinate with Pattaya city to investigate who the truck driver is so he can be arrested and prosecuted according to the Thai law.
