Gamblers Arrested At Pattaya Music Festival

Banglamung Deputy District Chief and public officials of Amphur Banglamung walked around to inspect various booths at the Pattaya Music Festival where they found 3 booths offering gambling games. The 3 owners were arrested and sent to the police station.

PATTAYA – March 21st 2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.30 a.m., Flying Officer Phorasit Jit-ram-wong (Deputy District Chief of Security Division, Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province) received complaints from local people that there were people gambling in some booths at the Pattaya Music Festival at the beginning of Soi 6, Pattaya beach road, Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province, so he rushed to inspect at scene together with forces of the public officials.

 

At the scene then the officials found 3 tents which were blatantly set up for tourists to play trapshooting, darts throwing and catapult shooting. The officials then arrested the 3 booth owners who were identified as Mrs. Pornpit Ketkhong, aged 42, Mrs. Roongphet Jeenphong, aged 49 and Miss Nuengruethai Maneejan, aged 27. They were then sent to the inquiry official in order to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.

Flying Officer Phorasit revealed that the arrest was due to Mr. Khomsan Ekkachai (Chon Buri Provincial Governor) had reiterated to prohibit any gambling in the booths such as trapshooting, throwing darts at balloons, catapult shooting etc.

 

While public officials were walking the streets to inspect the booths some operators quickly closed their booth and fled when they saw the officials coming. Initially, the officials had informed all business operators that if anyone still tries to set up a gambling booth they will be arrested and prosecuted.
