Sattahip, the 21st of March 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Sattahip Moo 3 governor Mrs. Saisuni Panphet along with the Sattahip Mayor and Sawang Rodjanatham Foundation coordinated in the rescue of the young calf which had become trapped in a 2 meter deep water hole. The calf had supposedly fallen into the well after it had wandered into the bushland off Soi Khao Phet, Sattahip.

At the scene, Sawang Rodjanatham personnel observed, a gathering of local residents from the nearby village, unsuccessfully trying to free the trapped calf with the use of a rope. Rescue officers eventually decided, with the use of a water truck, to flood the well and support the calf whilst allowing it to escape without drowning.

Mr. Cha Sitthikorn [42], who had discovered the trapped calf, stated; he had been walking in the area when he heard a distressed cow crying out from the nearby bushland. Proceeding to follow the call to the location Mr. Sitthikorn explained he immediately informed the local rescue team for assistance as it appeared the calf might drown. Residents confirmed that the calf belongs to a local farmer who had recently gone to Bangkok leaving a friend in charge of his herd.

The dangerous well/bore hole has now been covered to prevent further incidents occurring, whilst the young calf has been returned to the owner’s property in a weak but stable condition.
