Foreign Tourist drowns

A male foreign tourists drowned in the sea whilst swimming in the area of Jomtian beach, Pattaya. The officers assumed that he had suffered cramp causing him to drown.

PATTAYA – January 27,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 8.00 p.m., the radio center officers of Sawang Boriboon Tharmma Satharn Rescue Foundation, Pattaya city, were notified that there was a foreign tourist drowning out in the sea at an area near the beginning of Soi 7, Jomtian beach road, Moo 12 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province, so they rushed to the scene immediately.


At the scene there were a lot of local people and tourists crowding around to see what had happened. Initially, the rescuers found that bystanders had tried to administer first aid to the man. Unfortunately, and despite all the efforts of the Emergency services he died later due to suffering a pulmonary edema. Initially, the officers did not find any documents in his possession so it has been very difficult to identify the deceased.


Upon questioning the eyewitnesses, they said that they saw a foreign man walking on the pontoon at the swimming area from the beginning of Soi 8, Jomtian beach road, to the point where he drowned in the sea and disappeared. Bystanders identified a body floating in the water so they hurried to retrieve him back to the beach in order to try and resuscitate him, however, he died later due suffering a pulmonary edema.


The Police on duty who are responsible for this case will send the corpse of this male foreigner to a hospital to perform an autopsy where they will also try to locate where he is from and inform his relatives and the relevant embassy regarding this fatal incident further.
