Foreign Skimmer Gang Caught In Pattaya

Police have arrested a Spanish man for using fake ATM cards after a bank notified the police that he and two other men had withdrawn millions of baht using the fake cards. He was arrested at his apartment.

CHONBURI – July 28, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- Pol.Maj.Gen.Sanit Mahathaworn-acting commander- made a statement about the arrest of a Spanish man who had used fake electronics cards in Pattaya. Previously Pol.Maj.Gen.Sanit was ordered to monitor foreigners who were suspicious. These foreigners might be criminals or an illegal immigrant. Plus some of them also fooled other people. As a result of this, it had destroyed a good image of Thailand.

 

On 27 July Pol.Maj.Gen.Sanit Mahathaworn, Pol.Maj.Gen.Surapol Wiratyosin, Pol.Maj.Gen.Chettha Komolwattana, Pol.Maj.Yongyut Jantabut and Pol.Col.Theerapol Jindaluang led a team which consisted of Pol.Col.Chatree Suksiri, Pol.Lt.Col.Chalermsak Sateinthong,Pol.Lt.ColJakthep Pongpai, Pol.Maj.Siribuncha Khobjai, Pol.Maj.Prajakpong Suriya and police officers to arrest a Mr.Fernando Manuel Navarro 56 years old from Spain. Police officers arrested Mr.Fernando Manuel Navarro for using fake electronic ATM cards. He was arrested with an Asus laptop, an electronic card copier, 2 boxes which contained 500 electronics cards and 1 cell phone.

Previously police officers had been notified from Siam Commercial bank tellers that Mr.Fernando Manuel Navarro and 2 Romanians had withdrawn money from an ATM in Pattaya and Bang Lamung district (district nearby Pattaya). Most of victims were from foreign countries. The police officers then investigated him and found out that he was hiding in P Mansion in Soi Nerenplubwan road. The police officers raided his room where they found lots of items relating to fake ATM cards. In addition there was a lot of evidence showing millions of baht had been withdrawn. After his arrest he was taken to the police station in order to be prosecuted.
