An undercover drug buy, by police officers, netted several suspects, as well as, a supply of yaa baa tablets as evidence. On 26 December 2007, at 1am, Captain Chatchawan Meesawat, Captain Siripan Meelaksana and Captain Samorapum Janto, from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), sent an undercover agent to buy yaa baa from Mr. Artit Kaawsiri (23) and Mr. Setakorn Reangsangsri (25). The two suspects were nabbed with thirty yaa baa tablets at a public reservoir in the Sattahip area.

Following interrogation, Mr. Setakorn confessed that he had bought yaa baa tables from Mr. Paison Yodchai (26). The officers followed up by sending an undercover agent to purchase thirty tablets of the illicit drug from Mr. Paison, in the navy camp, at a cost of 5700 baht. Mr. Paison then supplied the name of his supplier. After putting together all the details, the officers eventually nabbed another man using the same methodology.
This time, Mr. Kunanon Laanee, or Tow, was caught with fifty tablets, which sold for 9,000 baht. The drug deal was arranged to take place in the navy camp. When Mr. Kunanon arrived, along with Mr. Nattapol (17), on a motorbike, they were caught red handed with the evidence, which was conveniently, in their pockets. These two miscreants explained that they bought their supply of illegal drugs from Mr. Yuha, from the Chiangrai-Myanmar border.

They, reportedly, bought the drugs for sixty-five baht per tablet and sold them for 180-250 per tablet. All the perpetrators were sent to the Sattahip Police Station, under the supervision of Police Captain Aekachai Monlee. Captain Chatchawan Meesawat, Director of Naval Operations, revealed that there is a large network of yaa baa dealers in the area. Many low level dealers have been arrested. However, they only represent a drop in the bucket. Only a small dent has been made in the large number of drug dealers and drugs sold in the area. Officials will investigate, further, to determine if there is a local agent storing a large amount of drugs in the Sattahip area.
