Fishing Boat Crew Rescued After 18 Hours

A fishing boat which was carrying 5 crew members sank during a severe rain storm. The crew were finally rescued after floating in the sea for 18 hours.

PATTAYA – June 18,2015 [PattayaDailyNews]; at 12.30 pm Capt.Ponyawee Wongwichan was notified that a fishing boat had sunk in the Pattaya sea near Koh Lin Island and 5 crews were floating in the sea. After notification the officers rushed to rescue them.

 

At the scene the officers found 3 crew members floating in the sea holding onto a tank. They were then rescued and taken to Bali Hai Pier, meanwhile the 2 other members had already been rescued by another boat.

Mr Bancha Uttama aged 44 the boat captain revealed that they set sailed in the afternoon of 17th June before they encountered a severe rain storm which caused the boat to sink. He said that they had been floating in the sea for around 18 hours before they were rescued.

 

The Sawang Borriboon rescue team then sent all the crew members to Bang Lamung hospital. The crew were really exhausted after being in the sea for so long and were lucky to be alive.
