Pol Lt Kraisorn Boonprasop of Chalong Police told The Phuket News he was notified at 9:45 this morning of the blaze in a room of rooms on Luang Por Chuang Rd.

The fire was first noticed by people in another workers’ room nearby. They attempted to put out the fire but were unable to do so because a breeze fanned the flames. At that point they called for the fire trucks.

Six fire trucks were dispatched and took about an hour to put out the flames.

“Everything is under control,” he said. “There were no injuries because almost all the people were out to work.”

Policeman believe the fire may have started from an electric wok that was left switched on.
