Pattaya, the 24th of January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 2:30pm, police Lieutenant Colonel Jakkarin Touhsuphap (Banglamung Police Investigator) received a report that a man had been shot dead within his family home in 223/1, Moo 6, Pattaya. Police Lieutenant Colonel Touhsuphap, Colonel Somnuk Changate (Banglamung Superintendent) and Lieutenant Colonel Nit Nithnanthakitti (Banglamung Police Investigators) along with a team of officers and the Sawang Boriboon Foundation rushed to the scene to investigate.

Inside the single storey house police discovered the dead body of Mr. Montri Saelao [37], laying face-up on the floor with a single shot to the forehead. Also at the scene was the brother of the deceased Kamphol Saelao [32] who confronted officers announcing that he was responsible for his brothers’ death. The weapon, a 12 gauge single shot pistol, was confiscated by police as evidence. Mrs Wanphen Saelao [63], the mother of the two men was crying inconsolably over her sons death and the fact that her other son was now destined for prison.

Police interrogated Mr. Kamphol who confessed to having killed his brother after the pair had been involved in a heated argument, over the mistreatment of their mother. Mr. Kamphol explained that his brother had regularly beaten their mother due to a previous drug addiction that had left him extremely bad tempered and “hot-headed.” Mr. Kamphol further stated that at the time of the incident Mr. Montri had hit their mother in front of him, confronting his brother, Mr. Montri proceeded in attempting to beat Mr. Kamphol with a wooden pole, however; Mr. Kamphol evaded the attack running to his room to get his pistol. When he returned he shot his brother in the head killing him instantly.

Mrs Saelao revealed that Mr. Montri had, as stated by Mr. Kamphol, beaten her on several occasions because of a prior drug addiction. She revealed that she had not reported the incidents to police as she loved her son too much.

Officers recorded the pair’s statements and arrested Mr. Kamphol, taking him to the police station where he will be remanded in custody awaiting further judicial proceedings to commence.
