SATTAHIP – February 7, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 9.30 a.m. A somewhat unhinged middle-aged woman, claiming that she was Her Royal Highness, Princess of Thailand, went to the Sattahip District Office demanding to be paid 10,000 baht in living expenses per month to cover her living costs. Mr. Thanawuth Sitarnkaew (Sattahip Deputy District Chief) was shouted at until he placated the woman by taking her complaint officially.

The redhead was dressed in a long blue skirt and a long sleeved black jersey, and sporting a big jewel at her neck. Upon further inspection, the lady’s identity card named her as Princess Janhom Wannakit, Royal Highness of Thailand. Her occupation was classed as Country Administrator, and the royal identification number of Suay Lar border line as 3311001074531. Her birth date was October 4th, 1961, her home address being at house no. 80/4 Moo 1 Tambon Phlutaluang, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

Upon further discussion with the lady, she was found to be quite normal in many respects, lucid and responsive. Pressed further, the lady claimed that she had been working for Thailand for many years, but felt she was not being appreciated, and couldn’t afford to continue supporting herself, thus the request for 10,000 Baht per month. The lady demanded to speak to Mr. Phawat Lertmookda, the Sattahip sheriff.

It transpires that this is not the first time this lady has caused a nuisance. She has been to several government buildings previously, but nobody had taken her seriously, assuming that somebody else would deal with the situation. That said, it does raise the issue of who, within the community, actually should deal with psychologically challenged citizens?
