Elvis Presley Week Is Here

Pattaya, August 22, [PDN]: Here is great news for all of you Rock-n-Roll lovers and fans of the “King of Rock,” because you are getting a week of rock music and memorabilia at the giant Central-Festival Centre on Pattaya’s Beach Road.

It began on Friday 21st August with a stage show that was preceded by the appearance of some well known Bangkok stage celebrities, Vier, Supawat Kanayot, and then everyone moved to the front of Central-Festival, where something really special had been planned.

One of Bangkok’s most prominent young actors appeared in his Elvis costume, and with the aid of trapeze wires walked backwards for quite a few metres up the vertical glass wall at the entrance. His many admirers thought that this was a fantastic stunt, so it was exactly what was needed for the opening show. Then it was back indoors to the stage where a lively dance routine was staged, followed by another appearance by our “look alike” King of Rock.

So is Rock-n-doll dying out? – No, it is making a very strong comeback. An occasional visitor to Thailand is British rock star Darryl Read, who was the world’s first “Punk Rocker,” and he believes that “Rock-n-Roll” will be the new wave of music in Thailand. He stated, – Contrary to what many people may think, I can see that “Rock-n-Roll” fits in perfectly with the modern wave of Thai entertainment, and appeals to a wide cross section of the local community.

However, there is a slight difference these days as the new generation of rock stars do not drink alcohol or take drugs, which has given them much popular support in the community.

Make a point of visiting the Central-Festival Centre on Pattaya’s Beach Road, a few times this week, and you will be glad that you took the time to do so.
