PATTAYA – October 7, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 5 p.m., a report of a foreigner being stabbed and killed outside his house was received by Pol. Maj. Gen. Katcha Thartsart, Commander, Chonburi province; and Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong, Superintendent, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province; who together brought the police team and the rescue officer of Sawangboribul Pattaya foundation to inspect the scene.

The incident occurred at house address 388/51 near Suk Sabai Villa village, south Pattaya, Moo 10 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

At the scene, police found the body of Mr. Timo Juhani Tarra, age 65, nationality Finland, lying on a pool of blood on the road. He was wearing black jeans and slippers, and a black shirt with jean waistcoat.

Many onlookers came to look at Mr. Timo’s body. He had a deep knife wound on his left breast that appeared to have punctured his heart. Lying on the ground near the body was a bloodstained fruit knife about 20 cm. long, which officers kept for evidence. Police searched Mr. Timo’s body and found car and room keys, some cash, and Viagra pills.

Police questioned a foreigner who lives in a house near the stabbing. He told police that he had seen Mr.Timo walking past his house, when aThai woman riding a motorbike stopped and began talking to him. They began to argue very loudly.

Suddenly the Thai woman stabbed Mr. Timo until he fell to the ground. Then she tried to throw the knife across the fence, but the knife did not clear the fence and fell on the ground near her feet. She then fled on her motorbike toward Soi Korphai 10. The witness then rushed to assist the fallen victim but could not help him, because Mr. Timo quickly died from his fatal wound. So the witness called the police.

Police also questioned another eyewitness, who had been passing by on a motorbike with his girlfriend. He was identified as Mr. Veerasak Kongkaew, age 27, a laundry-for-hire worker.

Mr. Veerasak told police that the Thai woman appeared to be about 40 years old. After she stabbed Mr. Timo, she tried to throw the knife across the fence, but the knife fell back on the road, so she hurried to ride her motorbike to escape.

He described her motorbike as a red-and-black lady’s bike with a red license plate, but he did not get the license number. The police recorded the testimony from witnesses for evidence and sent the body to the hospital morgue to perform an autopsy.

Later, the police team went to inspect Mr. Timo’s apartment, room 205 at address 298/8, located between Soi Korphai 3 and Korphai 1 in south Pattaya. But they did not find any evidence or information about the Thai woman who killed him.

However, a tenant in the apartment building said the female suspect seemed to know Mr. Timo quite well. He said her name was Ms. Wassana, nicknamed Wa, age about 40. The tenant said that Ms. Wassana occasionally would visit Mr. Timo, but they always argued.

Ms. Wassana had recently brought a mobile phone to sell to a grocery store vendor near the apartment building, and then she disappeared. The police went to the vendor and obtained the mobile phone. They found a photograph of Ms. Wassana in the mobile phone, which the police will use to track her down and follow up to arrest her.

The police believe Ms. Wassana is the one who did the stabbing, since all the testimony from witnesses matches her description. As for the cause of the stabbing, police assumed the motive might be jealousy, or perhaps Mr. Timo owed her money that he did not repay. So they argued and she used the knife to stab him to death.

The police already know the house address and work office of Ms. Wassana, and are following up to arrest her to investigate and prosecute. Police are confident an arrest will be made soon.
