Drunken Elderly German Man Pierces Calf With Pedal

A drunken elderly German man was riding his bicycle when he fell off it piercing his calf with the pedal. The rescuers rushed him to Bangkok-Pattaya hospital.

PATTAYA – January 7, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; the radio center of Sawang Boriboon Tharmmasatharn foundation, Pattaya city, Chonburi province, was notified that there was a bicycle overturned and 1 foreign man was injured where the bicycle’s pedal had pierced through his left calf. The incident occurred at the condominium on the side of the beach, Jomtien beach road, Moo 12 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province, so they rushed to inspect at scene together with the cutter and spreader equipment (the rescue equipments) and the ambulance of Bangkok-Pattaya hospital to assist the injured victim.

At the incident officers found the overturned bicycle and 1 foreign man (they didn’t know his name), German nationality, aged approximately 55-60, who was lying down on the road. His right calf had been pierced by the iron bar inside the pedal. The rescuers had to use cutter equipment to cut the iron bar off the bicycle’s pedal. A doctor from Bangkok-Pattaya hospital then performed first aid before rushing him.

From questioning bystanders, they said he went out to drinking and came back very drunk riding a bicycle which was too small for him and the right pedal was defective but because he was drunk he lost control and his bicycle fell down on the road piercing his calf with the iron bar where the pedal used to be severely injuring him. He called rescuers to assist and send him to the hospital.
