PATTAYA – January 10, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; a man came to the Buriram police station to report that a thief had invaded his house and killed his dog. Receiving the complaint was Pol. Lt. Thawin Homhuan, investigation officer, Muang Buriram police station.

The homeowner was identified as Mr. Anuchit Wikaiphat, age 34, living in Tambon Choomhed, Buriram.

The suspected dog-killer was identified as Mr. Pramuan Khadrum, age 39, living in Tambon Isarn, Buriram. The suspect is accused of invading a house and causing the owner to lose property.

Mr. Anuchit, the owner of the dog, told police that he feeds two dogs in his house. One is named “Nil”, a Rottweiler; and the other dog is a Golden Retriever named “Taro.”

On January 9, at 2 a.m., Mr. Anuchit heard the loud barking of his two dogs, as if they were fighting for a long time inside the fence around his house.

So he opened his door to have a look, and saw the thief Mr. Pramuan, who was in the middle of his pond. He was hanging on to a rope tied to the water spinner in the middle of the pond. The thief looked exhausted and was bleeding all over his face.

So Mr. Anuchit called his relatives to assist to pull him from the pond, because he was afraid that the thief was about to drown. After he pulled him to safety, Mr. Anuchit questioned Mr. Pramuan.

The drunk thief confessed that he had invaded Mr. Anuchit’s property to steal his Amazon striped snake-head fish, which are about 120 cm long. Mr. Anuchit initially felt pity for the drunk man, so he forgave him.

But later Mr. Pramuan said that he killed the dog that had died in the pond. After hearing this, Mr. Anuchit didn’t see Nil, his Rottweiler dog. So in the morning, he asked the rescue officer to dive in his pond to find Nil. As Mr. Pramuan had said, the diver found the body of Nil on the bottom of the pond.

So Mr. Anuchit came to notify the police to prosecute Mr. Pramuan, because he is so sad that his beloved dog was killed.

The reporter observed that during the subsequent police investigation, Mr. Pramuan still appeared to be drunk while describing to police what happened.

Mr. Pramuan told police that he realized the dead Rottweiler was a clever dog. At the time that he entered into Mr. Sanuchit’s house property, the two dogs chased to bite him.

Mr. Pramuan ran and jumped into the pond to escape, and he held on to the rope attached to the water spinner. But the Rottweiler jumped into the pond to follow to bite him.

So Mr. Pramuan had to fight with the dog in the pond. When he dived to escape, then the determined dog also dived to follow him. He told police that he fought with the Rottweiler more than 30 minutes.

Finally Mr. Pramuan captured the neck of the Rottweiler, and pushed its head down into the water until it died. Then the owner of the dog came out of his house and found him.

After giving his testimony, Mr. Pramuan apologized to Mr. Anuchit for killing his dog, and said the reason he did it was because he got drunk.

The police initially charged the suspect with an accusation of “invading into a house at night and making other people lose property.”
