Driver Cannot Brake, Truck Flipped Over On Its Side

The delivery truck driver flipped the truck over on its side after the driver realised that the brake did not work - 100,000 Baht worths of products were damaged but fortunately nobody was injured in the accident.

Pattaya, 21st March 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Captain, Nattakorn Mongkonmaha, Assistant Traffic Officer was informed that there was a road accident in which the truck was flipped over on its side, in the middle of Sukhumwit Road (Middle Pattaya route). The road had to be cleared immediately because there was traffic jam and that the royal family was driving by. The police rushed to the scene along with the paramedic.

At the scene, the police found the truck (White Heno, registered plate number 70-0749, Burirum), flipped over on its side. The goods in the truck were damaged but nobody was hurt.  The truck driver (employee of Sahapan Co.,Ltd.), Mr. Sompop Panchalard, aged 21,  stated that he was driving the truck with another employee to deliver goods to Family Mart in South Pattaya. Then he tried to brake as he was making a left turn. However, the brake was not working.  He panicked and bent the steering wheel so the truck flipped over. Fortunately, nobody got hurt but the estimated damages would be over 100,000 Baht.
The police checked the scene for more details and recorded it as evidence. They soon cleared the road before the royal family’s vehicle line passing by. The driver was taken to Police Department to be charged
