PATTAYA – December 30, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; a journalist went to Ta Khien Thong temple which is located in Moo 10 Tambon Huay Yai, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province after they received a complaint from the parents and family of a baby girl Thanatcha Morakul, aged 1 year 21 days, that had died because Wat Yarnnasangwararam hospital (located on Moo 11, Tambon Huay Yai, Amphur Banglamung) didn’t provide proper treatment by admitting her daughter to the hospital. Instead they sent her home where she finally died.

When the journalists arrived at the pavilion 1 of Ta Khien Thong temple they found Mrs. Sajee Sukkhlai, aged 21 with her dead daughter. She told the journalists that on December 26, 2013 her daughter was seriously ill with a high fever so she took her to Wat Yarnnasangwararam hospital where the doctor checked her and told that she had the flu and gave her some Paracetamol medicine (a type for children) and let her go back home and told her to wipe her daughter’s body every 2 hours and if her symptoms didn’t get any better within 3 days bring her daughter to see the doctor again.

At 11.00 p.m. on the same day her daughter had developed a rash all over her body so she took her daughter to see the doctor again but this time the doctor said why didn’t you bring her earlier because she is critically ill and may die Mrs. Sajee (the mother) replied that she had already been to see a doctor twice but the doctor just only gave her the medicines and let her daughter go back home. So the doctor gave the little girl some more medicine but she died 4 hours later.

Mrs. Sajee thought that if the doctor had admitted her daughter the first time she visited, her daughter would not be dead. So she notified Pol. Lt. Boonlai In-iam (Investigation police on duty of Huay Yai police station) for evidence. She said additionally that her and her family wanted the relevant organizations to come to inspect this case because she didn’t want a similar case to happen to other people and she would like her daughter’s case to be a lesson for this hospital to improve their treatment of patients in such cases.
