Director-General of the National Police Bureau Has His Say About Recent Terrorist Activity

Pol.Gen. Somyos Phoomphanmuang (Director-General of the National Police Bureau) insists not to reveal about a Pakistani convict that committed the bombing of Panyad city in India which 17 Indian victims were killed. He indicated this case is about the security of the country. The police had thoroughly investigated this defendant before putting him in jail at the Criminal Court and prepare for an extradition order.

From the case that Mr.Gurmeet Singh, a Pakistani defendant who was convicted of bombing a city in Panyad, India in 1995 which 17 people were killed and he was sentenced by the court to be jailed but later he and 9 men escaped from the prison to then end up travelling to Thailand, residing at Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province before Mr. Gurmeet Singh was arrested as the news report previously.


BANGKOK – January 6,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at General Police Hospital; Pol.Gen. Somyos Phoomphanmuang (Director-General of the National Police Bureau) said about the arrest of this convict that this case is very sensitive which relates with the security of the country that may impact on the relationship between the countries, he does not want to speak too much about this case, moreover, the information of evidence are still not clear enough to be explained for public acknowledgement.


At midday of January 6, 2015, the police detained Mr. Gurmeet Singh to be investigated at the Transnational Crime Suppression Center then there were 3 officers of Indian Embassy and 2 officers of U.S. Embassy came to ask about this case. After that Mr. Gurmeet was detained to be jailed at the Criminal Court, Ratchadaphisek Road, Bangkok, for 12 days during January 6 – 17, 2015 in order to be processed for an extradition further.​
