Diesel Smugglers Caught By NavyNavy officers have arrested a fishing boat crew after they had found out that they were smuggling Diesel to sell to other boats.
SATTAHIP – April 4,2015 [PattayaDailyNews]; at 13.00 pm VADM.Sucheep Wangmaitree was notified that a big fishing boat had smuggled fuel to sell to other fishing boats in the Thai gulf; therefore the navy officers rushed to inspect the scene.
Upon inspecting the boat they detained all the crew which consisted of Mr.Traithep Toothongkham aged 56 the captain, Mr.Thanet Nakham aged 27, Mr.Itthipol Choowan aged 39, Mr.Apbhisith Pradabkham aged 54 and Mr.Sanya Dathong aged 39. Also the officers found 87,000 litres of Diesel and 962,000 baht in cash. Mr.Traithep confessed that they had smuggled Diesel from Malaysia to sell in Thailand.
VADM.Sucheep revealed that the officers had discussed the route that the boat had taken to find the source of the fuel. Also the boat wasn’t registered with the marine department. Initially, the officers prosecuted them for illegally holding Diesel, avoiding tax and setting sail without permission. Also the officers intended to investigate the source of the fuel.
