Pattaya, 8 December 2010 (PDN): At midnight on Wednesday, Huai Yai Police Station Investigator, Lieutenant Colonel Chuangchot Mongkholthanayut, received notice of the discovery of a dead body floating in the pond at the Polo Escape Racecourse, Korat-Sattahip Road (331), Moo13, Haui Yai, Banglamung. A team of police, together with Sawang Boriboon Foundation volunteers, were dispatched to the scene.

In a pond situated about 5 meters from the edge of the racecourse, they discovered the dead body of Mr. Thongchai Meesap [45] floating in the water. The body was swelled from the water and was clad in a black T-shirt and blue shorts. The neck was tied with a 2-meter-long cord to a blue, 5 liter container, which was floating next to the body.

Officers found no trace of a struggle on Mr. Meesap who it was estimated had been dead for about 2 days.

Staff members at the racecourse told police that the deceased used to work at the racecourse but he had been fired for being drunk. His wife, who was suffering from a nervous disorder, hadn’t seen her husband for 2 days and after a search had found him dead in the pond.

The police doubt that suicide was the cause of death, and the body has been sent for autopsy. Investigations will continue to find out what actually happened to Mr. Meesap.
