On February 7, 2013, a complaint was submitted to a senator at the parliament, Pol. Gen. Jongrak Juthanon, to help investigate the suspicious death of a female Chinese tourist on Koh Samui island.

The complaint was filed by Mr. Wang Haijeang, nationality Chinese, the elder brother of Mrs. Lin Lin, a Chinese tourist who died at Amphur Koh Samui, Suratthani province on January 18, 2013.

The complaint asks for justice for Mrs. Lin Lin from Thailand’s police and judicial system to give the maximum punishment to those found responsible for her death.

Mr. Wang indicated in the complaint that he went to see the investigation officer of Koh Samui police station after the death of his sister. The officer told him that his sister’s husband, Mr. Lin Yu, had reported to police that Mrs. Lin Lin had “drowned in the sea.”

However, the results from an examination of her body by the police hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine indicated the cause of death resulted from “the lacking of air to breathe, caused by pressure around the neck.”

Mr. Wang also found many other suspicious things about his sister’s death, so he came to ask for justice. Mr. Wang requested that a senate committee oversee the Koh Samui police station’s investigation of the case to safeguard the integrity of the investigation.

He also asked the committee to command the police not to allow the unrelated persons or organizations to be involved with the investigation and prosecution of this case by the police investigation officer until the truth is clearly revealed.

Pol. Gen. Jongrak revealed that he will make a fact-finding trip to inspect the case on February 23, along with fellow senator Mr. Samak Chaowaphanan.

Because the relative of the deceased person believed that her husband might be the murderer, the senator would like to ensure that honest and thorough efforts will be made by Thai police to bring the murderer to be punished.

The senator also said that because the murder suspect is rich, he has the resources to evade justice and escape prosecution by trying to influence other organizations to make it difficult for the police pursuing the investigation.

The committee group intends to invite a collaboration between the police commander of Surat Thani province and the superintendent of the Koh Samui police station to consult together on the case.
