PATTAYA – March 10, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]: Pol.Col.Suphachai Phuikaeokam, director of Muang Pattaya police station, and Pol.Lt.Col.Chiddecha Songhong, vice director of the detective division, Thailand’s transnational crime coordination officers, together arrested the Chinese gang for using fraudulent credit cards. Mr.SHI ZHI YONG, 46 years old, Mr.XUAN TAO, 37 years old, and Mr.SHI YANHUA, 25 years old. Police found 6 fake credit and ATM cards, with incorrect magnetic strips on the reverse.

The police received a call from a clerk at Kasikorn Bank, that there had been attempts to purchase mobile phones from Mike’s Shopping Mall. The magnetic strip on the back of the card is used for storing unique information, and it was obviously tampered with. The police apprehended two of the gang (Mr Xuan Tao and Mr Shi Yan Hua) at the Force Phone Shop in the mall. Upon further questioning, the duo revealed a third member, living at Room 233, Hard Rock Hotel, and they managed to arrest him also.

The cards had been tampered with, either with new magnetic strips, or using other people’s details on the front. The evidence was collected by the police, and they are now prosecuting the Chinese gang according to Thai law.
