CHONBURI – March 30, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.00 p.m.; Pol.Col. Sutthisak Wanthee (Superintendent of Nong Prue police station, Chonburi province), Pol.Maj. Natthakarn Prathoomtri (Deputy Superintendent) and the detective police team together made a statement about the arrest of Mr. Tharmmachart Phormphithak, aged 37, residing at house no. 121 Moo 1 Tambon Tha Thong Luang, Amphur Bang Khla, Chachoengsao Province, who is the candidate no.1 for provincial councillor, Region 1, Amphur Bang Khla and Mr. Seksak Prajongbua, aged 27, residing at house no.446/1 Moo 12 Tambon Khu Yai Mee, Amphur Sa-narm Chai Khet, Chachoengsao Province, in the allegation of attempted murder and being in possession of a gun and ammunition without permission, also the use of a fire arm without necessary cause. The 2 defendants committed the crime by driving a white Toyota Vios car, with red license plate (didn’t know the license number) tailed the victim’s car before shooting him repeatedly. The victim was identified as Mr. Phassakoon Tharathornsophon, aged 35, an engineer of iron quality control division of the malleable iron (cast iron) of New Con Burapha Co., Ltd he was severely injured. The incident happened at 6.30 p.m. on February 25, 2014 on the road 36, entrance side to Pattaya, near Bira International Racing Circuit, Moo 5 Tambon Pong, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province. The injured victim was sent to Bangkok-Pattaya hospital for treatment.

Pol.Col. Sutthisak Wanthee (Superintendent of Nong Prue police station) said that after Mr. Phassakoon (the injured victim) told police that the cause of this incident might be that the iron being sold was unqualified (not meeting the proper standards and requirements) as Mr. Phassakoon was an inspector and there were many companies that he told they couldn’t sell their iron because it didn’t meet the correct specifications and Mr. Phassakoon didn’t know which company members shot at him. Also before incident occurred someone had called and threatened Mr. Phassakoon several times before he was. After Pol.Col. Sutthisak had ordered a detective police team to find clues about this incident and from inspecting the CCTV footage, the circumstantial evidence (the bullets in Mr. Phassakoon’s car) and interrogated the oral evidence (witnesses) and Mr. Phassakoon also confirmed that Mr. Tharmmachart Phromphithak and his friends were the shooters. Therefore the police gathered all the evidence to ask for an arrest warrant from Pattaya provincial court, no. J.93/2557 dated March 26, 2014 and arrested them at the house in area of Tambon Tha Thong Luang, Amphur Bang Khla, Chachoengsao Province.

Pol.Col. Sutthisak Wanthee continued to say that the cause of this incident might because of Mr. Tharmmachart (the trouble maker) revenged Mr. Phassakoon because he didn’t approve the iron of his company due to the iron not reaching the correct specifications. Initially the 2 defendants still denied all the allegations and asked for bail immediately by using 200,000 THB per person.
