Charity Lantern Release is our charity event to support disadvantaged children in Pattaya. We run this special fundraising campaign to call for public attention and support. The lanterns only cost THB 100 each.

A major highlight of this Charity Event will be the participation of all 7 members of North Pattaya Alliance – more than you think (NPA). Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya, Amari Pattaya, Cape Dara Resort, Dusit Thani Pattaya, Holiday Inn Pattaya, Pullman Pattaya Hotel G, and The Zign Hotel in association with Pattaya City Hall and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Pattaya Office. We will all light up the sky together and all funds raised will be given to the Father Ray Foundation.

The Chinese experimented with small hot air balloons for signaling from as early as the 3rd century BC. It is from their early hot air balloons that the sky lantern evolved. The Lanna people of Northern Thailand use sky lanterns, known in Thai as “Khom Loi” for celebrations and special occasions. In recent times, sky lanterns have become more popular with all people as they have become integrated into festivals in the rest of Country. It is considered good luck to release a sky lantern, and many Thais believe they are symbolic of problems and worries floating away.
