SRIRACHA – March 18,2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Lt.Col. Manassakarn Nilkamhang, DI of the marine Police division 5, Sriracha , revealed that at 19.00pm he was notified that a coal cargo ship was on fire in Sriracha Harbour so he went to the crime scene.

At the scene he found a ship called Bas 33, from Singapore which had 9 crew plus the captain who all were Indonesian. The boat was carrying 8,000 tons of coal. The harbour staff wouldn’t allow the boat to the shore and kept it 2 km off shore between Seesang Island and Sriracha Habour. It took the crew and the captain 4 hours to bring the fire under control, but there was still smoke coming out of the boat. An investigation will now take place to find the precise cause of the fire and how much damage the fire caused.
