Cameroonian Lives Like Temple A Boy In Ayudhaya

Locals in Ayudhaya are amazed by a young Cameroonian man who walks around every morning with the monks helping them when they receive food. He lives in the temple and acts like a temple boy because he wants to be part of the Buddhist faith.

PHRANAKORN SRI AYUDHAYA – March 11, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Bangkaja temple, Sampaolom, Phranakorn Sri Ayudhaya, a journalist was informed that there was a black foreign male who was assisting monks by carrying things for them as the received food from local people. His name is a Mr.Ndah Ebenzer, 29 years old from Cameroon.

Mr.Ndah said that the when he came to Thailand he visited Koh Chang island island first where he saw a temple and monks which made him feel good. He then went to Aydhaya where he met a monk and gave him an English book about the Buddhist concept and was introduced to Prah Kru Rawichet, who is the abbot of Bangkaja temple. Because of this he wanted to be part of the Buddhist faith so he asked the monk if he could live in the temple and be his student to learn the dharma in the morning and then in the afternoon he would teach English and science to the children at Pornpinit Pittayakarn School. He had graduated in engineering and English but now he’s happy to live here and learn Buddhism.

Phrakru Sangkarakwichet said that the locals called him, Maroom, Maroom and he had been here for a year. He also developed more understanding of Thai language and was living like temple boys who would wake up at 5am to help the monks receive food and when they came back he would prepared meals for them. He is a nice guy and the locals liked him. He also aimed to spread Buddhism faith by distributing English dharma books at tourist attractions.
