Cambodian Woman Took 20 Pills in Suicide Attempt

A 23-year-old Cambodian woman who was having problems with her husband took 20 painkillers in a suicide attempt.

SATTAHIP – April 23, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 6.00 p.m.; the radio center officers of Sawang Rojjana Tharmma Satharn Sattahip Foundation were notified that a woman had eaten painkillers to commit suicide in a rented room with no address in Soi Joollathep school, Moo 1 Tambon Bang Sarey, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province so they rushed to inspect the scene.

At the incident the officers found Miss B (alias), aged 23, who is a Cambodian worker lying on the bed and short of breath due to eating around 20 pain killers because the officers found the empty packs on the floor. The rescuers tried to assist her but she refused and wouldn’t go to hospital. They tried for over 30 minutes to get her to go to hospital but she still refused and stated that until her husband comes back she won’t move. Therefore, the rescuers could only will her to drink a sweet drink in order to dilute the severe effects of the overdose.

Upon questioning Miss A (alias), who is Miss B’s elder sister, she said that previously her younger sister had lived with her Cambodian husband for several years but lately they had become estranged and he didn’t want to take care of her anymore. Miss A also said that in the morning of the incident day Miss B told her that she didn’t want to live any longer therefore Miss B took an overdose to commit suicide.
