PATTAYA– March 15,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 9.00 p.m., Pol.Capt. Witsanu Chaisuwan (Deputy Inspector of Pattaya city police station, Chon Buri province) was notified of an incident where some construction workers had been fighting in the camp of Worakit Co., Ltd. which is located in Soi Wat Boonkarnjanaram, Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province and 3 workers were severely injured. Therefore, Pol.Capt. Witsanu Chaisuwan rushed to inspect the scene together with volunteer police and the rescuers from Sawang Boriboon Tharmma Satharn Rescue Foundation, Pattaya city.

At the scene the officers found 3 injured Burmese nationals . They were identified as : 1. Mr. Jor, aged 24, who had a severe knife wound to his head, 2. Mr. Mewjor, aged 32, also had also suffered a head wound and 3. Mr. Gua-, aged 22 who had a black eye. The rescuers performed the first aid on them before sending them to Banglamung hospital. The Cambodian attackers had already fled the scene.

Upon questioning the 3 injured the police perceived that before the incident occurred there were 4-5 Cambodian construction workers carrying weapons who then attacked the Burmese workers in their camp. They also damaged their belongings and the huts where they were staying. The injured Burmese said that they didn’t know them and had no problems with anyone.

Pol.Cap. Witsanu revealed that this construction camp was on over 20 rai which housed approximately 300 Burmese and 700 Cambodian workers and they often argued with each other. He suspects that the cause of the incident might be a revenge attack. He said that a lot of construction workers have been working illegally in this camp but there are inadequate officers to inspect all the workers’ paper work. However, he will report the incident to his superior in order to coordinate government officers to inspect each workers paper work accordingly.
