On 13th October at 12.30 pm. Pattaya police investigator Pol.Lt. Col. Aekadit Srimoon was notifed by the Grand Jomtien Palace Hotel, on Jomtien Beach Road, that 3 hotel rooms had been broken into with the burglar(s) making off with over 200,000 baht in foreign currency and other valuables.

On receiving the report police rushed to the 6th floor of the hotel and found the doorknobs of room numbers 604 , 605 and 606 had been broken. The rooms had been ransacked and the safes smashed open.

Mrs. Elena Ivanova, (50), from Russia, staying in room 604, lost $1900, 500 Euro, a digital camera and a 3 baht weight gold chain.

Mr. Ilya Olyunin, (37), also from Russia, staying in room 605, lost 6000 Rubles, 1250 Euro, and a mobile phone.

Mrs. Jibtte Vivian Halvorson (50), from Denmark, staying in room 606 , was more fortunate as none of her possessions were taken.

The three victims told police that they had been out for dinner and a walk along the beach. When they came back they found their rooms had been broken into. Police suspect the culprits may be a white Muslim gang which has lately had a high record of hotel room robberies and break-ins in Pattaya.

Police will check the hotel CCTV and search for more evidence in the rooms to try and bring the suspects to justice.
