Pattaya 14th February 2010 [Pattaya Daily News] Police Colonel Athitsawat Kamonrat (Chon Buri Immigration superintendent) and his team, conducted a raid on the Chauanchom Karaoke venue in South Naklua, Banglamung, after receiving information that girls from Laos under the age of 18 were being prostituted on the premises.

The Karaoke venue was just a cover for the seedy business of prostitution. The Officer, under cover as a tourist, sat in the venue when he was approached by Mr. Kee Sukserm [27] a ladyboy manager from Loey province in order to sell the services of two girls aged 15 and 17. A price was agreed between the undercover officer and Mr. Sukserm of 4,000baht.

From there, Mr. Sukserm delivered the girls to a hotel 20 metres from the Karaoke venue and after receiving the payment in his hand, the officer immediately arrested him. Mr. Sukserm and the two girls were held in custody at the Chon Buri Immigration Office with the evidence of 4,000  baht a notebook recording number of sales and a room rental book.

Police Colonel Kamonrat has interrogated the girls from Laos who stated they had passports which were thrown away when they were found to be out of date.  They agreed to prostitution due to their suffering and lack of money for themselves and their families. They came here via an agency run by a woman who sold them in Loey Province.  Mr. Sukserm picked them up and ferried them to Pattaya where they were prostituted, each earning 400 baht, the rest being kept by Mr. Sukserm.

Whilst under interrogation, Mr. Sukserm stated that he was an employee of Mr. Somkhuan Jarernsuk (Sia Khuan, South Naklua) [50]. Mr.Jarernsuk had smuggled the under aged girls into Thailand in order to sell them into prostitution.  Mr. Sukserm has been held and charged with Illegal Trafficking with the intention of immoral earnings through Prostitution. The Police will continue to search for Mr. Jarernsuk in order to arrest him for his part in the matter.
