On 7 October 2007, at 12 AM, Banglamung Police Sub. Lieutenant Phongsathorn Bai-lard was notified that a female worker from a Korean karaoke bar had been murdered and hidden under a bed. The crime took place at Room 108, in Four Men Court, located at 228 Moo 6, Soi Pornpraphanimitr (Siam Country Club). Deputy Superintendent Police Lieutenant Colonel Samrit Kunchit, a doctor from Banglamung Hospital and Sawang Boriboon Rescue rushed to investigate.
A foul odor emanated from Room 108. Police entered, moved the bed and discovered the body of Miss Weeruna, nickname “Noi” (28), wrapped in a blanket under the bed. Noi, from Phayao Province, had worked at Mona Lisa Karaoke Bar, which attracts a Korean clientele, and is adjacent to Star Dice Pub in North Pattaya. Her arms and legs were bound; and her neck was tied up with a black backpack. Police estimated that she had been dead for about six days.

In the room were some soft drinks, milk, glasses, cigarette ashes and snack food, indicating that people had been eating and drinking in the room. A magazine was stuffed in the side ventilation to block air flow. There was no sign of a struggle.

Mr. Winyu Kha-Kai (34), the apartment manager, told police that Miss Noi had rented the room for more than a year. She occasionally brought back men, who spent the night. The most recent one was a heavy set, Thai man, with long hair, about thirty years old, about 170 cm. tall, narrow eyed and with a dark complexion. After midnight, the man left the room and sped away in Noi’s car, a bronze Toyota VIOS, license 2578, Phuket.

Mr. Sanchai Thong-bai (30), Noi’s boyfriend, who works at Jungle Dance Club, in Bangkok, came to visit Noi yesterday, but could not get into her room as it was locked from the outside. He decided to go back to Bangkok, but mentioned to Mr. Winyu, the manager, that a foul odor was coming from the room. The next morning, Mr. Winyu had his staff force open the door and discovered Miss Noi’s body.

Miss Sugancha Pitathasang (32), Noi’s coworker, said that Noi was a pretty woman with a friendly personality. Some Thai and foreign men had been flirting with her. On 1 October, Noi did not show up for work. Miss Sugancha called her and Noi said she was not feeling well. When Noi did not show up for work for several days, her coworker became worried that something had happened to Noi. She was heartbroken to learn that Noi had died, but had no knowledge of the suspect, the heavy set man.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Samrit instructed police investigators to look for the suspect who disappeared in Noi’s car. Police are also questioning Noi’s relatives and her boyfriend, Mr. Sanchai, for clues in this case. Police theorize that possible motives for this crime were jealousy or robbery. Noi’s body was sent to the forensic laboratory for examination. Police inspected the crime scene and took fingerprints from the room. Hopefully, police will be able to find and arrest the perpetrator soon.
