On 10 August 2007, at 4 p.m., Police Lieutenant Colonel Jakarin Toa-Supharp, Banglamung investigator, Chonburi, received a phone call reporting the discovery of the deteriorated body of a woman. The body was hung under a tree in the woods behind Wat Yarn Temple, Moo 11, Huey Yai, Banglamung, Chonburi. After the notification, Police Lieutenant Colonel Samrit Kunchit, deputy superintendent, and a police team with a doctor from Wat Yarn Hospital, together with a Sawang Boriboon rescue unit, rushed to the scene to investigate.

The body was discovered in the woods about 200 meters from Wat Yarn Temple. Officials found a dead woman, presumably Thai, whose neck was tied with a green nylon rope under a tree in sitting position. She wore a white T-shirt with English printing, blue shorts, and was shoeless. There were many tattoos around her body. The condition of the body had deteriorated, and appeared to have been dead for about ten days. Officials could not find any identification.

Officers questioned Mr. Ratanawan who found the body. He said that he was looking for wild mushrooms in the area nearby and smelled something unpleasant. He followed the smell and found the dead body of the woman under the tree. He did not know who she was and immediately reported his discovery to the police.

Police believe that the body could be that of someone in the area. Motives under consideration include suicide or murder cover up. Officials are continuing to investigate and to seek the woman’s relatives. They have sent the body to a forensic laboratory for examination.
