BANGKOK – January 22, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 2 p.m., the arrest of a woman for procuring a teen prostitute was announced by Pol. Maj. Gen. Naiwat Phadermchit, Commissioner; Pol. Col. Saroch Soonsap; Pol. Col. Chaiwat Aranwat, Deputy Commander; Pol. Col. Sanhakij Bamroongsuksawat, Superintendent, Wangthonglang police station; Pol. Lt. Col. Vivat Assawavibul, Inspector; and the detective police team.

The suspect was identified as Ms. Kanyaphak or May Hongsa, age 25, from Tambon Hang Nam Sakhon, Amphur Manorom, Chainart province. Police seized the evidence of 2,000 THB cash used in making the undercover purchase of sexual services, and a black Blackberry mobile phone.

The suspect and a 15-year-old girl were arrested at the first floor of Central mansion, Soi Ladprao 122, Ladphrao road, Tambon Plubpla, Amphur Wangthonglang, Bangkok.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Naiwat said that a prior police investigation revealed that on January 21 at 10 p.m., Ms. Kanyaphak had brought an underage girl to sell for sexual services.

Ms. Kanyaphak had been arranging for the underage prostitution by having customers contact her by mobile phone. So the police made a plan to entrap her with an undercover “sting” purchase of sexual services for the 15-year-old girl, for the price of 2,000 THB.

The undercover agent made an appointment to meet at the first floor of Central mansion, Soi Ladprao 122, which offers rooms for daily rentals.

Later at 10 p.m., the officer met with the suspect and the 15-year-old prostitute, “Kaew” (alias). Ms. Kanyaphak then asked for the 2,000 THB cash for payment for sexual services with Kaew. The officer then identified himself and arrested Ms. Kanyaphak and restrained her to investigate.

During questioning, Ms. Kanyaphak confessed that she used to be a singer in a restaurant in Saraburi province. But after that she didn’t work, and she needed money. Then one of her old customers in the restaurant that she used to work contacted her, to arrange to send girls to him for sex.

So she decided to deceive the girl Kaew who lived near her house in Ladprao, by telling the girl that she would find work for her. But finally Ms. Kanyaphak forced the girl Kaew to sell her sexual service for the first time, and then later on for 4 more times.

The customers would pay Ms. Kanyaphak 2,000 THB for sex with the girl. Ms. Kanyaphak would deduct between 500 to 1,000 THB for herself, and gave 1,000 THB to the girl Kaew. With her share of profits, Ms. Kanyaphak would pay for her daily living expenses and consume ya-ice.

Initially, the police charged the suspect in an accusation of “doing human trade by seeking benefit from selling the sexual services of a person over age 15 but not over age18, and arranging and helping transport the girl or any person in order to let that person sell sexual services, although that person had consented.” Ms. Kanyaphak was sent to the investigation officer to prosecute further according to the law.

As for the girl prostitute Kaew, the officers sent her to restore her mind at Prachabordee Center.
