CHAIYAPHUM – September 24, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: The aunt of an autistic girl filed a complaint of possible sexual abuse to Pol. Col. Wiwat Seelakate, vice commander of Chaiyaphum provincial police.

The victim, “Ms. Eh,” (alias), age 17, has autism and is unable to speak. The aunt told police that the girl’s mother had to live in foreign country, so they sent her niece to live in a private, well-known adoption center in Chaiyaphum. The family was paying the center 15,000 baht a month to care for the girl, and she had been living there for seven months.

On September 17, the center arranged for her niece to get treatment in a psychiatric hospital in Nakhon Ratchasima. Then the aunt noticed that her niece was acting strangely. There were also many bruises on her body, like she had been attacked.

“When I carried her to check at the hospital, the doctor said she was hit by hard things on the body, and there were signs of sexual assault, genital penetration,” the aunt said. “And the doctor found burnt traces like they were from cigarette butts. And her genitals was like it was burnt by a lighter.”

The aunt also discovered that that her niece had been left to sleep with a horse keeper at the adoption center. Police will contact the center to investigate further, and gather information to proceed with the case.
