PATTAYA – July 21,2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 12:20 a.m., Pol. Lt. Col. Songkram Pan-iam, investigation office, Muang Pattaya police station, Chonburi, received a report of a foreign man who was unconscious and possibly drugged in room 338 of the Diamond Beach Hotel, 499, moo 10, Nongprue, Banglamoong, Chonburi. He went with a police force to check and co-ordinated the investigation with the Pattaya tourism police and the rescue team from Sawang Boriboon Pattaya.

At the scene, they found Mr. Yasin Sharif, 63, an Australian, lying dizzy on his bed and nearly unconscious, so he could not give testimony about what happened. The police checked his pockets and found his passport was wide open, as if his person and his possessions had been rummaged. On the mirrored desk, there were two partially-eaten Kababs, two bags of fruits partially eaten, and a half glass of beer.

During questioning, the hotel staff said Mr. Yasin had checked in the previous evening, and had brought a woman to sleep with him. She was about 25- to 30-years-old and appeared to be a prostitute. The couple brought food to eat, and after some time had passed, the lady came out of the room in a hurry. So the hotel staff went to check Mr. Yasin in his room and found him unconscious. They suspected he had been drugged and she had taken all his assets. But they did not know what she had taken, because Mr. Yasin could not speak.

The rescue team performed first aid, then sent Mr. Yasin to Pattaya Memorial hospital. The police checked the hotel’s CCTV and saw she was a Thai lady about 30-years-old, with long hair and wearing a black blouse and skirt. Since the hotel staff did not ask her name, the police kept the picture from the CCTV for evidence. If Mr. Yasin recovers, police will question him to see whether he had been drugged and robbed so they can arrest her.
