A television cameraman was injured in the Red Shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protest aimed at Mr. Suthep during his visit to Pathum Thani.

The UDD protesters threw eggs, water bottles, shoes and plastic “foot clappers”, the signature of the protesters, at Mr. Suthep’s motorcade as he was leaving an educational institution in Pathum Thani.

Mr. Suthep was officially visiting the province to follow-up the government’s policy as implemented by local officials.

A small explosion, possibly a “ping pong bomb”, occurred near Mr. Suthep’s car, cracking the windshield of a security car, injuring a cameraman from the government’s NBT station.

Two cars in the deputy prime minister’s motorcade collided during the commotion.

Mr. Suthep, responsible for domestic security, asked the UDD protesters, supporters of the ousted ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, to refrain from throwing objects.

The deputy prime minister requested media covering the incident to provide video footage and still photographs to identify persons responsible for throwing water bottles and said that legal action would be taken against them. (TNA)
