Angry Teens Beat And Rob Motorbiker After Accident

A gang of 20 teenagers beat and robbed a restaurant waiter after their motorbikes collided on Sukhumvit Road at Sattahip. Police chased the fleeing teens and caught two on Soi Bongkot. Both claimed they were not involved in the violent robbery.

PATTAYA – August 25, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1 a.m, Pol. Lt. Yongyuth Wanneau, Deputy Inspector, Pattaya police station, was notified that a group of 20 motorbike riders beat and stole property from a man on a motorbike. He rushed to the scene with inspector police, a volunteer police team and a Civil Defense Volunteer.

The incident occurred on Sukhumvit Road, on the entrance side to Sattahip, in front of a boiled rice shop, about 30 meters before a PTT petrol pump station, Thepprasit branch.

Police arriving at scene found a group of 20 teenagers, who hurried to ride their motorbikes to escape the police.
So the police chased them, and near the front of Bird Inn hotel on Soi Bongkot, they caught two teenagers, named “Mr. Ae” (alias), age 16, and “Mr. Oh” (alias), age 17.

The boys were riding a Honda Wave motorbike, which the police seized for evidence. Both boys told police that they just were riding their motorbike for traveling in Pattaya, before their friends shouted to them to escape.

Police restrained the two suspects and took them back to the victim to identify. However, the victim told police that they were not the ones who assaulted and robbed him. But they were in the same group as the guilty parties.

Police then questioned the victim, Mr. Sathaporn Kanphan, age 23, who works as a waiter on the boat near Laem Balihai on Pattaya Beach. Mr. Sathaporn told police that after finishing work, he was riding his red Yamaha Feno motorbike, and had stopped to buy food at a shop.

While waiting for the food, he rode to refill petrol at the pump station. Then when he rode in the opposite direction to get his food. Suddenly Mr. Sathaporn collided with a motorbike that was among a big group of teenage motorbikers.

Both motorbikes fell to the ground in the collision. So Mr. Sathaporn ran to assist the fallen teenagers and apologized.

But the group of teenagers got angry at him. Four or five teenagers then punched Mr. Sathaporn in his face until he was bruised.

The rest of the teenagers stood around and watched the beating. Then the teenagers stole 700 THB, his mobile phone and his motorbike key.

After incident, Mr. Sathaporn ran across the road to ask for assistance at the Sawangboribul foundation on Thepprasit.
