74-Year-Old Homeless Fisherman Shot in the Butt in Sattahip

A 70 plus fisherman, laying under an old tree in Krom Luang Choomporn Park was shot by an unknown gunman, using a homemade gun. The gunman escaped by motorbike, the police assumes this is a personal revenge case.

Sattahip, November 16, 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol. Capt. Theetat Taroonjan, Sattahip police station, Chonburi province was notified about a gunshot wounded man in Satthahip.

At scene of the shooting the police found Mr. Pean Noppuang age 74, from Chachoengsao province occupation fisherman lying on mat in a pile of blood.The victim was dressed in a t-shirt and blue shorts. Mr. Pean had a deep gunshot wound in his right buttock and was still was conscious. The rescue team provided first aid and he was sent to Queen Sirikit hospital. At the scene the police found three cartridges on the mat which were kept for evidence.

Upon investigation Mr.Pean, the victim said he had been fishing shrimp and fish in Krom Luang Choomporn Park for several years. He was homeless and slept on the mat under the tree with his wife, Mrs. Nim Maidee. Before the shooting occurred he was waiting for the sunrise to start fishing.

 

He was half asleep a motorbike arrived. The bike was parked approximately 20 meter away. And a man wearing a white helmet walked up to him and shot once him in his right buttock and escaped on his motorbike.

Mr. Pean said that he had never had quarreled with anyone except at the beginning of this year when he had tried to cure a patient with using Thai traditional medicine. The patient, the wife of a government officer. However, after treating the patient for a period of time she expired. The officer, the husband got so upset that he once tried to shoot him, but Mr. Pean survived. This time he did not see the face of the shooter, but he is sure it is the same person.

Pol. Capt. Theetat Taroonjan, assumes that this is a personal revenge case.The police will investigate and look for further evidence and witnesses to find the suspect who tried to kill Mr. Pean, the 74-year-old homeless fisherman.
