A 70-Year-Old Chinese Man Drowns at Koh Larn Pattaya

A 70-year-old Chinese man who suffered cramp while swimming in the sea off Ta Waen beach at Koh Larn Island drowned. Some nearby swimmers managed to get him to the beach where CPR was performed before sending him to waiting rescuers at Bali Hai port.

PATTAYA – August 15, 2014 [Pattaya Dailya News]; at 12.00 p.m., rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Tharmma Satharn Foundation, Pattaya city, were notified by the radio centre of Koh Larn Sub-district that a Chinese tourist had drowned in the sea off Ta Waen beach and was being taken back to Bali Hai port by boat so rescuers rushed to the quayside.

 

At Bali Hai cape quayside the rescuers of Sawang Boriboon Tharmma Satharn Foundation, Pattaya city, found that doctors and nurses were performing CPR on the victim while he was being taken to Banglamung hospital. The rescuers didn’t know the identity of the Chinese victim but guessed he was approximately 70 years old.

 

Upon questioning the eyewitnesses, they told the officers that before the incident happened they saw the Chinese victim sunbathing and then he went into the sea for a swim when suddenly he got into difficulty and was assisted by some swimmers who were nearby. They then got him to shore where they started CPR. Shortly after he was rushed but speed boat to Bali Hai port Pattaya.

 

Initially, the officers assumed that this Chinese man had drowned in the sea due to his age and may of suffered cramp which restricted his ability to swim causing his death.
