Thairath, the most popular Thai newspaper reports that the local police was reported (about) the incident at 6.30 pm of the 8th Sep 2008. At the scene, police found the deceased body of a girl was lying on the floor in front of the back seat. The girl had taken her blouse and her shoes off, kept her shorts on. She had been drinking two bottles of water, an empty bottle in her arm was held tightly.

Mr. Tawat Titrat, [40], the driver, said that everyday he drives the car with his wife to take his 3-year-old daughter and the neighbor’s daughter to the children care center, which is 30 meters away from his office.

However, in the morning of 8 Sept., his wife and his daughter did not come along in his car. He picked the girl up from her house and seated her on the back seat and drove to his office. When he arrived at the office, he just rushed to the meeting but did not lock the car. When he finished work at around 6 pm, while he was driving back home, he looked through the rear mirror and saw the girl’s dead body on the floor in front of the back seat.

According to the Thai newspaper, he claimed it was unintentional; he thought the girl must have left the car and walked to the children care center herself, [ like everyday with his wife and his daughter].

The girl’s parents were crying their heart out when seeing the body. They said, Mr. Tawat was a very nice neighbor and had been very helpful to their family. They do not want to sue him. The mother said ” I want this case to be the lesson for all of us to be more careful with our kids being left in the cars.”

Mr. Tawat, the driver was unconscious from the shocking stage, and sent to the hospital for one night.

The next day, the police investigated the schoolteacher and found out that the girl was missing the school, which explained that she had been in the car all day long, suffered in the heat, suffocated and died.

The temperature outside the car was about 34 degrees but authorities say it could have been 15 degrees hotter inside the car, with the windows rolled up.

Apparently the police feel that the man should be brought to the justice as soon as he recovers.
