19 Countries Joined A Meeting Of HACGAM For The 9th Time

The Director-General of the Harbour Port Department revealed that sea accidents at Pattaya beach are not a concern in the eyes of various nations because they understand that accidents do happen from time to time .

PATTAYA – October 30, 2013[Pattaya Daily News]; At 9.30 a.m. Mr. Sornsak Saensombat (The Director-General of the Harbour Port Department) was the chairman in opening the meeting of Head of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting : HACGAM for the 9th time which the heads of organizations and representatives from 19 countries a total of 23 organizations attended a meeting at the Dusit Thani hotel, Pattaya, Chonburi. In this meeting, the Harbour Port Department and Marine Police Division joined together with Japanese Coast Guard, Japanese Association Marine Safety and the Nippon Foundation. This meeting was set up to support the relationship between the heads of the Asian Coast Guard and also for developing the knowledge and ability to build a framework of working together integrally.

Mr. Sornsak revealed that the framework of cooperation in working is also emphasized on 5 main aspects, that are 1. Assistance for ocean victims 2. Conservation of the environment 3. Guidelines for large disasters. 4. The protection and controlling of ocean infringements. 5. The development of capability. Thailand will emphasize on the guidelines for large disasters with the aim to increase the level of capability to the same standard. He also revealed that sea accidents that occurred at Pattaya beach were not a major concern for the meeting members, which in the eyesight of various nations they see that accidents do happen . Furthermore , the Harbour Port Department also cooperated with Pattaya city in preventing crime and sea accidents continuously.

In the proposed plan to prevent sea accidents there is a formulation to specify the areas where sea traffic symbols and pontoons are to be placed within guide lines of the law. The Director-General continued to say that “We have to thank Pattaya city and the business entrepreneurs in Pattaya that their cooperation to the rules of sea security has progressed so much. In the future we will bring technological systems to aid in developing the work further.
