18 October 2005 Deputy Mayor Ronakit Eksingh said Pattaya City has continued to sweep and round-up roaming elephants in the city. The main reason for those roaming elephants to beg for money in the city instead is that the mahouts, owners of elephants, have no jobs and money and the easy way to get money is from people’s sympathy.

Pattaya City is on process to push the budget for the installation of signboards of no elephants and reservation wild animals. There are eight Thai elephant Villages in pattaya coordinating to look after their own elephant. Pattaya City will support and set some activities for elephants which is in a part of tourism campaign.

Deputy Mayor added that Pattaya City has declared to blockade Pattaya Beach temporary during 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. for a week according to Pattaya’s policy. Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn directed a team explaining to public and tourists including to remove sexual-service girls for the beach. Recently, Pattaya has set a team of over 30 volunteers and municipal officials to sweep the city through 24 Hrs.

Furthermore, Pattaya City has installed more than 30 spots of CCTV system throughout the beach in order to watch out for criminals. It has been expected that pattaya beach will have better scenery as per the mentioned criterion.
