Young Thai Busted With Drugs In Bra At Border

A 22-year-old Thai woman was caught at the Laotian border with 1,985 meth tablets in 10 plastic bags stashed in her bra. She had picked up the drugs at a Laotian casino, and would have been paid 15,000 baht for the delivery. But border officers did a body search and found the drugs.

MUKDAHARN – December 24, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: an arrest was made of a young Thai woman for attempting to smuggle methamphetamine tablets at the Friendship Bridge border 2.

The arrest was made by Mr. Khajorndej Jankrajang, professional customs technocrat, acting for the customs officer of Mukdaharn; and Colonel Yuthana Muangpulsawat, vice director of security of Mukdaharn, LCDR; and Mr. Korapat Sripipat, the chief of the boat station of Mukdaharn, immigration police Mukdaharn, and scout 2105.


The suspect was identified as Ms. Atchara Sangthong, 22 years old. Police seized the evidence of 10 bags of meth pills, totaling 1985 tablets.

During questioning, Ms. Atchara confessed that she went to Sawanna Khet city in Laos to play in a casino. But her real purpose was to receive a shipment of meth to deliver to an unknown Thai employer in Lerngnokta. She did not know the name of her employer and had never seen him, she told police

But she was supposed to get paid 15,000 baht for a successful delivery, she said. Ms. Atchara picked up the meth in a bag left in the trash bin at the entrance of the Laos casino. She later hid the drugs in her bra between her two breasts.


Ms. Atchara was driven back to Thailand in a car that the casino had prepared for customers to return to Mukdaharn. But the border police did a body search on her and found the meth.

Ms. Atchara is charged with transporting a Type-1 drug illegally into the Kingdom, and possession of a Type-1 drug for illegal selling. The arresting offficers brought her with the evidence to send to the detective officers of Muang Mukdaharn police station to prosecute.
