On 7 December 2007, at 12:20am, Banglamung Investigator, Police Lieutenant Nithiphum Butrwong, was notified of a shooting. The victim was lying in a pool of blood next to his red and black Honda Wave motorbike. The shooting occurred on the side street of Bypass No. 7, second section, Ta-kien-Tia District, Banglamung. Investigative Superintendent, Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Yos-sombat, a police team and Sawang Boriboon Rescue rushed to the scene to investigate.
At the scene, the victim, Mr. Thanagrit Thepwong (23), from 157/7, Moo 4, Huey Yai, Banglamung, Chonburi, was lying in a pool of blood, breathing faintly. The man had been shot by an unknown number of assailants on his right arm, body and right leg; three shots in all. He was injured, severely, and unconscious. Officials immediately transferred the injured man to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. There were no suggestions as to who the perpetrators were.

Mr. Thanagrit’s parents and other relatives rushed to the hospital to see him. His wife, Miss Wanda Norkam (32), told the police that she and her husband, who sells small household items around market areas, have a four year old daughter. She described her husband as a friendly person who gets along with everyone.

Before the shooting, Mr. Thanagrit left home on his motorbike, in the early evening, without mentioning where he was going. Miss Wanda and the victim’s parents had no idea what he was doing thirty kilometers away from home. They couldn’t imagine why he was shot or who shot him.

Police are working on the theories that the victim might have had enemies who were bent on revenge; or that he was on his way to see a lady friend. Police are focusing on the latter theory, as the man’s wife described him as quite good-looking. She said that he has a few girlfriends on the side. He may have been on his way to see one of his girlfriends and was shot by teenagers in the area. When Mr. Thanagrit regains consciousness, police will be able to question him and investigate further. Hopefully, they will get to the bottom of this vicious crime and arrest the evil miscreants who attempted to murder him.
