PATTAYA – May 7, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 6 p.m., reporters were informed that there were honest people in Pattaya who found a purse and had brought it to the police of Pattaya police station. The reporters went to check on this unusual event.

They found a boy Warit Namyen, age 14, and his brother Chakrit Namyen, age 12, sitting to wait to return the purse to its owner. For this merit, serving as witness was Pol. Lt. Jakkrit Jankhamta, investigation officer, Pattaya police station.

The boy Warit and his brother Chakrit told reporters that they were going back home, when along the way a woman on a motorbike drove past them.

Then the woman’s purse fell from the motorbike to the ground, and several banknotes spilled out from her purse. Warit and his younger brother shouted to call the motorbike driver, but she didn’t hear their voices and kept going.

So the brothers walked to pick up the scattered banknotes on the ground, collecting five 20 THB bills and a 100 THB bill, and also picked up her purse. At that time, they didn’t know how much money was in the purse, then they brought the purse to the police at Pattaya police station.

The police discovered the purse belonged to Ms. Watchaporn Akefeuangfu, age 53, who worked as a maid at the Cozy Beach hotel on Phratamnuk Hill, south Pattaya. The hotel was not far from the house of the 2 boys.

Later, Ms. Watchaporn came to Pattaya police station to confirm she was the owner of the purse. The police officer initially asked her a few questions to make sure she was really the owner of the purse. Then he returned the purse to her.

Ms. Watchaporn checked for her property in the purse, which contained many important government documents, and found nothing was missing. There was 1,200 THB cash in her purse, including a 1,000 THB bill.

As a reward, Ms. Watchaporn gave the 1,000 THB bill to the 2 boys, in order to thank them and to encourage them to keep doing merit further. Although there was not so much money in the purse, it had many important government documents that she was very grateful to get back.
