Ratchaburi, the 29th of August 2010: Jordan Ashley Krull [26] was found dead in Thailand’s Central province of Ratchaburi on Tuesday last week. Krull, discovered dead 500 meters from the Chet Samian railway station suffering from a severe head injury, is suspected to have fallen from a train in unknown circumstances.

At present, it is thought that Krull had fallen from an inbound train while standing in an open doorway or step of the locomotive. The only possessions on his body were his Canadian passport, ID card, train ticket and Bt8,000 in cash, according to a local police report on the incident.

Krull, deemed by his close friends and family as an adventurer and lyricist with an open outlook on life, was travelling in Thailand to “find purpose and figure [things] out in the world.” In somewhat of a backpacking adventure, Krull, equipped with little resources but a small bag and his leather-clad notebook, had visited Shanghai, Hong Kong and Pakistan before his untimely demise in Thailand.

Since the revelation of his death, tributes to the somewhat iconic adventurer, lyricist and self-confessed ‘free spirit’ have poured onto a Facebook profile created in his honour. One commenter stated, “Of all the risks he took in his short but jam-packed life of adventure and excitement, to fall off a darn train in Thailand seems bizarre and baffling”.

At 26-years-of-age, Krull found his fifteen minutes of fame as the gangly, longhaired hooded figure who appeared rather nonchalantly to rush the 2010 Winter Olympic procession in Canada, lighting his cigarette on the heavily guarded torch before being bungled by security. The incident was captured on amateur video and posted on Youtube under the title “Jesus arrested at Olympic torch rely in Vancouver after stealing flame”.

Krull’s brother, Jason, informed the press that he had formulated plans to continue his ‘legacy’ at future Olympics, stating that he wanted to steal the flame in London 2012 and Sochi 2014 despite being a little apprehensive about the Russian securities intervention on proceedings.

It is now thought that Krull will be cremated in a Buddhist monastery in Thailand before his ashes will be flown back to Vancouver for an official funeral service involving family and friends.
