PATTAYA – March 28, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 8 p.m., the arrest of a drug dealer on Walking Street was announced by Pol. Lt. Thanongsak Inphadoong, Deputy Inspector, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province, with the police team.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Niphon or M Chiangnok, age 21, from Tambon Laemthong, Amphur Nongboonmak, Nakornratchasima province. Police seized 19 pills of amphetamines that were each concealed in 19 cigarettes, and the 600 THB used for the undercover lure purchase.

The defendant was arrested at the beginning of Soi 15 on Walking Street road, south Pattaya, Moo 10 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province. Police restrained him to investigate at Pattaya police station.

Pol. Lt. Thanongsak Inphadoon, Deputy Inspector, Pattaya police station, said that a police investigation had revealed the behavior of the suspect as a street dealer smuggling to sell amphetamines to teenagers and foreign tourists. Mr. Niphon worked as the person encouraging passersby to enter inside an entertainment center on Walking Street.

Mr. Niphon hid the amphetamines in the bottom of cigarettes to conceal the drugs from the police, and sold each cigarette for 300 THB, each containing a meth pill. He had been selling the illegal cigarettes for so long that the police eventually found out, and made a plan to arrest him by letting an undercover spy contact him to make a lure purchase of 2 pills of amphetamines.

An appointment was made for the suspect to deliver the amphetamine cigarettes at the beginning of Soi 15 on Walking Street road. When Mr. Niphon came to deliver amphetamines that were hidden in 2 cigarettes to the spy for the price of 600 THB, the police arrested him.

Officers searched Mr. Niphon, and found 600 THB cash from the lure purchase, as well as 17 SMS brand cigarettes, green color, in his pants’ pocket, with an amphetamine pill inside each cigarette. So the police seized all of the evidence, totaling19 pills of amphetamines.

During questioning, Mr. Niphon claimed that his friend left the cigarettes with him, and he didn’t know that there were amphetamines hidden inside the cigarettes. His friend told him to sell the cigarettes to customers for the price of 300 THB each. He didn’t know that he would be victimized by the lure purchase by the police spy until he was arrested by the police, but the police didn’t believe him.

Initially, the police charged him in an accusation of possessing a Type-1 drug(amphetamine) for illegal selling. Police then sent the defendant to the investigation officer to prosecute further according to the law.
