Village Floods After Heavy Rain In Pattaya

A village in Pattaya has suffered flooding after heavy rain, the villagers claimed that the flooding was caused by the construction of a new department store because they had raised the land up by 2 metres.

PATTAYA– October 5, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; reporters revealed that there had been heavy rain in the morning which caused flood in some areas especially Nong Mai Kaen village. The reporters then went to inspect the village. At the village the reporters found that a lot of the water had drained into the village from a nearby department store which was being constructed. Plus the water level had reached about 30 cm in some spots causing some property damage.

Upon questioning Mr.Patiharn Rompoh aged 47 he said that he and his family had lived in the village for several years and he had never seen flooding like this before. The flooding was caused by the construction of a department store which had raised the land up by about 2 meters. As a result of this the water drained into the village. However the villagers appealed for the problem to be solved.
