Vicious Stabbing in Pattaya Mini-Mart: Offender Apprehended

A vicious stabbing has taken place at a mini-mart on Wednesday, with the owner and one staff member severely injured in the attack. The suspect allegedly was a former employee of the store and was attempting a robbery.

Sriracha, the 3rd of February 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Lieutenant Colonel Phon Prasertsri (Chon-Buri Police Investigator) was notified on Wednesday of a stabbing at the Yindee grocery store in Sriracha. A team of police along with rescue officers from the Sawang Prateep Foundation were dispatched to the scene immediately.


At the scene police and rescue personnel found Miss Arpaporn Kijchokjarern [58] suffering from a deep laceration to the hand and Miss Boonsrikij Kijchokjarern [49] suffering from a stab wound to the stomach. Medical officers immediately rendered first-aid before transporting the pair to the Smitiwech Sriracha Hospital.

Before being transported to the hospital, Miss Arpaporn explained to police that the offender was Mr. Long Khongriew, AKA Mr. Jarern Goraed [26] a Cambodian national who had previously been employed at the store. Miss Arpaporn stated that Mr. Khongriew had come to the store asking for his job back to which she refused him. She explained that he then pulled out a 6inch folding knife, holding it to her neck whilst demanding she give him 10,000 baht. Whilst Miss Arpaporn struggled with the offender Miss Boonsrikij approached to help and was stabbed in the stomach, at which point Mr. Khongriew fled the scene.

A brief investigation revealed the Mr. Khongriew had fled the area on a local motorbike who took him to the Amorn Market in Naklua. Police proceeded to the market, surrounding the area and arresting the suspect after a short search. Mr. Khongriew was taken to the police station for interrogation and further judicial processing.
