Vegetarian Festival in Pattaya started with 1,000 merit makers joined in the procession

This year Vegetarian Festival was most spectacular with over 1,000 merit makers joining in the grand procession around the city and closing off with the world largest pan of fried rice.

On October 21st at the Bali Hai Pier, Pattaya, Sawangboriboon Foundation in cooperation with Pattaya City announced the grand opening of Vegetarian Festival. The event will last till October 31st . Mayor Niran Wattanasatsathorn and members of Council together with the organizing committee of Sawangboriboon Foundation, local politicians including the public promptly joined in the activities. The procession was taken as the starting point of the event. 

The procession moved off from Bali Hai Pier passed Walking Street and on to Pattaya 2nd Road and ended in Central Pattaya where a new line of procession is formed on Pattaya-Naklua Road and finished off in the Sawangboriboon Foundation. There were golden dragon dance performance, lion dance and other processions. The shows were exciting and thrilling and were well received by the public and tourists who enjoyed watching the performances along the side of the road. Some shops invited the dragons to do the dance in their shops as it is believe that the dragon will bring them luck. 

The processions later arrived at the Sawangboriboon Foundation in Naklua for the religious ceremony in welcoming the God & Goddesses. Mr. Sansak Jarunngampichet ex-Council presided over the opening ceremony of the world largest pan of fried rice. The fried rice was distributed out to the merit makers and there were various other activities held at the Foundation on this grand opening day of the Vegetarian Festival
